    Crop margins (in points)

1 point = 1/72 inch ≈ 0.35 mm. Enter values to trim from each side. Leave zero to keep that edge unchanged.

    Crop PDF margins online

Trim white space, headers, footers, or wide margins off your PDF pages so the content fills the page. You set how much to cut from each edge, and every page is cropped by the same amount — handy for cleaning up scans or reflowing a document for a smaller screen.

    How to crop a PDF

    1. Upload your PDF. It opens on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.
    2. Enter the trim for each edge. Type how much to remove from the top, right, bottom, and left. Values are in points (1 pt = 1/72 inch ≈ 0.35 mm), so 28 pt ≈ 1 cm and 72 pt ≈ 1 inch.
    3. Apply and download. The new crop box is written to every page and the cropped PDF downloads straight away.

    When people crop a PDF

    • Students and researchers trimming the fat margins on scanned book pages so the text is bigger and easier to read on a tablet.
    • Office workers removing a repeated header or footer band before printing or re-sharing.
    • Designers cropping an exported PDF down to the exact artwork area.

    Cropping vs. truly deleting content

Cropping changes what the page shows by shrinking the crop box — it's fast and reversible, but the hidden area can still exist in the file. If your goal is to permanently destroy sensitive content (not just hide it from view), crop is the wrong tool; use redaction instead.

    Frequently asked questions

What unit are the crop values in?

Points. 1 point = 1/72 inch ≈ 0.35 mm. As a quick guide, 28 points is about 1 cm and 72 points is exactly 1 inch, so a 2 cm margin is roughly 56 points.

Does cropping remove the content permanently?

No. Cropping adjusts the page crop box to hide the trimmed area, but the original content may still exist in the file. For permanent removal of sensitive data, use a redaction tool, not crop.

Can I crop different pages by different amounts?

This tool applies the same trim to every page, which keeps a scanned document consistent. If only a few pages need a different crop, split them out first, crop separately, then merge back.

Will cropping change the file size?

Usually only slightly. Because the hidden content remains in the file, cropping is not a way to shrink a PDF. To reduce size, run the cropped file through Compress PDF.

    Are my documents uploaded?

No. Cropping runs entirely in your browser with pdf-lib. Your file is never sent to a server.
